Review: Bittman’s Vegan Before Six

I’ve written separately about my own efforts to follow the “Vegan Before Six” diet, so I’ll limit this to a review of the book. While you don’t need to read this to follow the VB6 guidelines, it helps. No surprise, Bittman is clear, concise, and cuts through the dieting bullshit to get to the crux of the matter – you should be eating more plants, less meat, and no crap. He backs up this basic (but often hard to follow) advice with solid science and helpful recipes.

I genuinely think the world would be a better place if more of us ate like Bittman recommends. You should check it out.

Review: Harrington’s I’ll Have What She’s Having

I’ll Have What She’s Having: My Adventures in Celebrity Dieting

When I decided to do this project where I reviewed every book I read, I thought about how embarrassing some of my selections would be. This is one of those embarrassing selections.
A throw-a-away type book in which young comedy writer tries a number of fads diets and writes pithy commentary on them. I think this may be based on a blog or magazine series, but I’m not sure. Amusing, if fad diets and cheap experiential journalism is your kind of thing. It is my kind of thing…not that I’m particularly proud of it or anything, but this is my kind of thing.

Recommended for the enthusiast.
