Books

Source Material

Meditations, Marcus Aurelius – Perhaps not the purest distillation of stoic thought, but almost always the one to start with. I prefer the Hays translation.

Discourses, Epictetus – A canonical text of classical stoic philosophy.

Cicero, Volume XXI. On Duties (De Officiis): De Officiis (Loeb Classical Library No. 30)
Cicero — this volume include “On Duties” which many think of as Cicero’s most stoic text.

Letters from a Stoic, Seneca – collects the writings of the Seneca which relate most directly to stoic philosophy.
