Injury Update and Weekly Totals

So, doctors appointment this morning, and officially, I have tendinitis in my left foot. Yes! No stress fracture!  He wants me to take a week off and see him again. We’ll see about that, I’ll take at least the next couple of days off and then see how I feel.

Anyway, weekly totals were:

16.5 miles in 2:35:21

That is really far off from where I should be miles wise. Can I run a half marathon in three weeks? Lets see how the foot feels.

Yo really need to stay off th foot and let the tendonitis resolve. Unfortunately there’s not a whole lot more you can do – maybe some anti-inflamatories, but you need to take mega doses of ibuprofen (like 800 mg 3x a day x 7 days) for any anti-inflamatory effect. A lot of people take ibuprofen thinking that it is doing good when th pain goes away, but are only feeling the analgesic properties of the drug.

Take it easy. The HM will still be threre next year.

Thanks, Glenn. I worry you’re right, but I hate the idea of downsizing from Marathon to Half marathon to nothing this fall. What a disappointment.

    Have you battled tendinitis?

I think you should still come home that weekend so you can meet your new nephew (who should be here by then, lol) and hang out and we will cook lots of yummy food and have lots of yummy wine and beer and rest your foot and do the marathon next year. Give yourself a break this year has been crazy and I presonally think your body is trying to tell you to stop stressing it out for a while!!

      Hey Shannon,

Right now I am leaning towards not running it, which SUCKS, but worse than not running it for me would be running it and doing badly. I might just have to wait for a spring marathon.

def glad it’s not an sf!! pay attention to the foot. i know you want to run so bad, but you know you’d rather be running in the long run than just this week. i know it’s hard to have patience (we’ve all had injuries keeping us off the roads) but you really need to try! hope it starts feeling better soon!
