Training Totals 12/28/09 – 1/3/2010

RECAP: I swear to god, I am going to get back in the habit of writing these updates every week. This week saw the beginning of my plan to work out, every day, for a year. This is going to be a tricky balancing act, I need some of these workouts to be hard enough to push my fitness level, and others to be easy enough to allow for recovery. Right now, the plan is to have the running workouts be the hardest, with the swimming and rowing used as a sort of active recovery. We’ll see how that goes. Here’s the week

Summary

Average Weight – 189

Running Miles: 6 in 57:37

Row Meters: 10,000 (6.2 miles) in 46:43

Bike Miles: 8 miles in 30:00

Swim Miles: .5 in 30:00

Total exercise time: ~2:43

Friday – Day 1 of 365 – Ran 3 miles in 27:37

Saturday – Swam ~.5 miles in open water in 30:00

Goals for Next Week:

1. Increase mileage to a sad, but reasonable 10 miles

2. Work out everyday

3. Take monthly progress photo

Other Random Notes:

1. If you didn’t see it, I am now tweeting about my daily workouts if that kind of thing interests you.

2. I have a plan to post progress photos on here as well, I hope to post the photo for January tomorrow… if I can convince E to take a photo of me for this harebrained project.

don’t put yourself down too much. you are in the building phase and recovering from injury. i know you certainly don’t want to re-tweak anything, and unfortunately that means a slow ramp-up. hang in there, those numbers will grow!

Thanks Lindsay, as I have written here before, I am very frustrated that I got to a decent level of milage, just to lose it all to a stupid injury, but I also know that if I want to get back to that level of fitness, I need to go slow and not make the same mistakes.
