New Boston Qualifying Times

Well, crap. Qualifying for Boston just got even harder. For someone of my age and gender, it is now going to take a 3:10 to qualify. While I think this is probably the fairest way to deal with demand for the race, for me personally it puts the possibility of ever getting there even farther out of reach.

I have no hope of getting a BQ this year, if I can get to the 3:40 / 3:30 range I will be ecstatic. 3:10? That is going to take a couple of more years and a couple of thousand more miles.

Well, the good news is that by the time it takes you to get to 3:10, maybe you’ll be able to qualify with a 3:15!

Sorry to poke fun, but how could I resist.

(also based on my experience of feeling like going from a 3:50 to 3:30 would be way easier for me than from a 3:30 to 3:20. then again, gender might factor into where my thresholds are)

      Very funny. Jerk.

I think going anything under 3:30 is just insane. That’s 26.2 miles at a pace faster than I can currently run a 5k. But I am a stubborn son of a bitch, and I want it bad.

Kind of like shooting at a moving target….

You’re telling me! And it is a target that keeps getting further and further away.
