  • 2010 in review

Below is a dorky report that wordpress created of the traffic statistics on this blog. What I find most interesting is that the most searched terms, month in and month out are Katherine Switzer and Yo Tizer. As any good runner knows, Katherine Switzer is the first woman to have run the Boston marathon with…

  • Training Totals 1.2.2011

RECAP: Exciting week weather wise in Brooklyn. Last Sunday we had a major snow storm which hosed my running for the first part of the week. The streets weren’t cleared for days, and it was really tough to get out there. I went to the gym one day, and did just one mile the other…

  • 2010 by the numbers

I ran 1670.5 miles in 255 hours and three minutes. I took off a grand total of 49 days. I lost about fifteen pounds and PRed in every distance I ran. Not bad. But next year will be better. Happy New Year everyone, I hope you are excited about it as I am.

  • Training Totals 12/26/2010

RECAP: Well, not the week I wanted, mileage wise, but with the holidays and a blizzard here in Brooklyn, I’ll take what I can get. I did get a bike ride in (something I am hoping to do more of) but on the ride home something went wrong with my back wheel and now it…

  • 2011 Goals

As I wrote about earlier, I have mixed feelings about 2010. It was by far my best year for running, but it was also not all I was hoping for. I set PRs at every distance, but I didn’t break four hours in the marathon, and it looks like I won’t run 2,000 miles. Whatever.…

  • Training Totals 12/19/2010

RECAP: Recovery from the Philadelphia Marathon has been a lot harder than I would like. I’m battling some tendonitis in my right foot and having trouble just getting out the door. But this week I started putting together a plan for the new year and feel newly inspired. Hopefully, this recap will be the last…

  • Hello Internet

Hello internet, it’s been a while. As the New Year approaches I’ve been reviewing my year in running and planning the year ahead. I figured I’d try to articulate what I accomplished this year and what I hope to accomplish next year in a series of posts. This is probably all dullsville to you, but…

  • Friday Inspiration: Pre

Awesome vintage footage of running legend Steve Prefontaine. Love Pre’s aggression in his running… he died far too young.

  • Race Autopsy: The 2010 Vermont City Marathon

The synopsis If for some unknown reason you don’t want to read seven hundred words on my running of the Vermont City Marathon here it is in a sentence. I ran VCM in 4:27:16 smashing my previous marathon PR of 5:45. The Lead Up Ah Vermont, the land of Ben and Jerry’s, beautiful vistas and…

  • Some thoughts on Barefoot Running

Note: Originally written long ago, for another blog. Put here, largely unedited, for posterity’s sake.  Since barefoot running  is something that seems to be of major interest to lots of people in the running community, and is something I have thought a fair bit about myself, that I would write another post on the issue. In…
